Panama Bilingue
Welcome Teachers from Panama Bilingue
The English Language Center of Drexel University is pleased to welcome teachers from Panama Bilingue for an eight week program in language, pedagogy, experiential education, cultural trips and activities.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The program consists of language training in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. During the afternoon class time, teachers will learn about language teaching methodology that focuses on the SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) Model and spend time using technology for teaching and learning.
Participants will be placed in speaking and writing courses in the intensive English program (IEP) on the basis of initial placement tests during the orientation.
School visits
Teachers will visit a variety of schools in Philadelphia to learn about the educational system and issues that teachers and students face in the United States.
In addition, participants will visit the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and meet with the Museum Education Department to professional development program and use of experiential activities.
After completion of the program, participants will continue learning through an 8 week online program as a review of the methodology course to share their experiences with that particular topic and how it relates to their own classrooms.
Activities
Participants are welcome to join the ELC activities throughout the term. In winter, the ELC hosts an International Festival when our students share stories, music, dance, and objects from their countries. Please bring something from your country to share for this exciting event.
